Greetings from Pensacola! I hope this finds you well. Thanks so

much for including me in the invitation to the Class of 1974’s

upcoming anniversary festivities. It’s really hard to believe it’s

been half a century, isn’t it?

First of all, I wanted to confirm that my email address is still the

same as what you have on your table, mf@mjflynn.net . I will be

happy to provide any other contact information you might wish to

compile. I should also mention that I have not been on Facebook in

years, so I won’t be able to keep up with developments and

discussions posted there in the coming months. Have you

considered a parallel group on Instagram maybe? I am there, as

you know. Just a thought.

Unfortunately the timing of the anniversary weekend is going to be

a little tricky for me. I am leaving for two weeks in Colorado just a

couple of days after the anniversary weekend in Decatur, so I am a

little doubtful whether I will be able to make it. Deposits have been

payed on my Colorado lodgings, so it won't be a simple matter just

The past 50 years have been packed with adventures, starting with

me meeting the love of my life the first semester of my senior year

of college and marrying Deborah (Deb) during our Christmas

break, then graduating from Jacksonville State University in 1978

with a degree in Finance. When you know, you know!

After graduation, we moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I

landed my first BIG job as a supervisor at Blue Cross Blue Shield of

Tennessee. It didn’t take long to know, that wasn’t the best fit for

me…supervising 30 women! Later that year my wife and I moved

back to her home town in Albertville, Alabama and I enjoyed

learning the construction business and using a gift that God had

given me in building from little things to houses.

The 46 1/2 years that my wife and I have been married we’ve been

blessed with two children, our son Blake, who is married for 20

years and he and his wife have four children and live in Texas and

our daughter, Michele and her husband have two children who live

in Tuscaloosa only a mile from my wife and I. So we are blessed with

six grandchildren ranging from pre-school to college age and love

spending time with our family and watching these young people

grow into amazing young adults.

We’ve had the opportunity to have our own businesses in both

retail and wholesale as well as me working for a great company in

my last job in Central Florida ( outside sales for 19 years) , and my

wife has been in full-time ministry for almost 30 years up until

when recently we retired. God knew I needed a strong godly wife!

Among our adventure, we have moved 18 times over these 46 1/2

years of marriage and many times just to a different home that we

built or remodeled in the same town . We’ve lived in Tennessee,

Alabama and Florida, twice in Orlando and twice in Tuscaloosa,

which is where we currently reside.

We love traveling and have been on multiple cruises from the

Caribbeans to Alaska , visiting many of the states as well as Hawaii

and Canada and have been on mission trips to Belize.

We are settled in Tuscaloosa, home of the Crimson Tide who I love

watching and attending many of sporting events. Needless to say,

we are loving retirement. I currently work a very part-time job at

my Dream job, which is Ole Colony Golf course where I get free golf

and cart, range balls, use of driving range and a paycheck! We are

members of the Church Of The Higlands where we both serve and

love hosting Small Group in our home. I love this little life we have!

Thank you, Deb

other costs involved as shown below.

Friday night event dinner for the two of us: $50.

Saturday night reunion event for the two of us: $170.

Gas cost to travel from Georgia and back home: $161.

Food and other miscellaneous expenses during our visit: $127.

Sunday morning brunch at 609 Social Market: $18.

Five nights at the Doubletree: $969.

Grand total: $1,495.

me working for a great company in my last job in

Central Florida ( outside sales for 19 years) , and my

wife has been in full-time ministry for almost 30

years up until when recently we retired. God knew I

needed a strong godly wife!

Among our adventure, we have moved 18 times over

these 46 1/2 years of marriage and many times just

to a different home that we built or remodeled in the

same town . We’ve lived in Tennessee, Alabama and

Florida, twice in Orlando and twice in Tuscaloosa,

which is where we currently reside.

We love traveling and have been on multiple cruises

from the Caribbeans to Alaska , visiting many of the

states as well as Hawaii and Canada and have been

on mission trips to Belize.

We are settled in Tuscaloosa, home of the Crimson

Tide who I love watching and attending many of

sporting events. Needless to say, we are loving

retirement. I currently work a very part-time job at

my Dream job, which is Ole Colony Golf course

where I get free golf and cart, range balls, use of

driving range and a paycheck! We are members of

the Church Of The Higlands where we both serve and

love hosting Small Group in our home. I love this

little life we have!

Thank you, Deb
